Make sure you schedule your outdoor adventures now while the temps are still cooler for enjoying the Arizona trails!
NOTE: Dogs are no longer allowed at Camelback Mountain
including the Echo Canyon and Cholla trails.
Piestewa Peak
Located in the center of Phoenix, Piestewa Peak (formerly Squaw Peak) is one of the most accessible trails for dogs and their owners with a potential elevation gain of 2,608 feet. Note: Dogs (and horses) are not allowed on the Piestewa Peak’s Summit Trail. To access summit views with your dog, take the Freedom Trail (approximately 3-3/4 miles). The dog-friendly trails cater to both easy and advanced hikers with leashed dogs.
Take Squaw Peak Drive to Piestewa Freeway for the trailheads.
The Butte at South Mountain Park
One of the largest city parks in the country (more than 16,000 acres), there are over 50 miles of pet-friendly trails to explore! You can find the South Mountain Park and Preserve at 10819 S. Central Avenue in Phoenix.

With just a $12 parking fee (until 5 pm), stroll across the bridge and cool off with your four-legged best friend! Or walk/bike the path, have a picnic or rent a boat to go out on the water together!
Head down to Mill Avenue and cross the bridge located at the southeast corner over Tempe Town Lake.
